A 50-year-old Ellicott City man received probation before judgment and 30 days of home detention Thursday for pointing his shotgun at a man whose boxer dog got loose and attacked his white bichon frise in March.

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A family dog played hero and helped save the life of a 3-year-old girl Thursday night in West Ashley. The girl's father, however, was arrested on child neglect charges. Rescue crews were called to the Hickory Hill subdivision in West Ashley around 7 p.m. and found a girl in the water. A witness told authorities that he saw a dog nudging the girl to keep her from going under water. She was neck and chest deep in the pond located behind her house. MOCKSVILLE, N.C. -- A Mocksville man is recovering from several bite wounds and scratches after being attacked by three boxers while he was jogging Sunday evening... ...The dogs' owner, Ralph Kimery, told WXII's Jermont Terry that the dogs have never been vicious before. The dogs were unleashed in the back yard while his wife was outside, Kimery said. He said he had no idea why the dogs decided to attack, adding that the dogs frequently play with his grandchildren and haven't attacked on other days when Potts has run by.

A BABY girl mauled by her family's pet dingo-cross dog suffered more than 100 bite wounds, a doctor has told an inquest. Twenty-two-month-old Kara Compton's injuries were described by two senior nurses on Tuesday as the most horrific they've seen. Kara was in bed in her family's home at Bunyip, in Victoria's east, when the dog climbed onto her bed and mauled her. She was found by her father and taken by ambulance to Dandenong Hospital, but went into cardiac arrest and died.

POULSBO — Neighbors are giving 14-year-old Kohl Serwold a hero's welcome after he rescued his dog from drowning last week. Kali, a 3-year-old Golden Retriever who often plays in the waters near the Serwold's Scandia home, swam nearly 400 yards into Liberty Bay chasing two seals last Thursday. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A Labrador that ate a beehive containing pesticides and thousands of dead bees won an award on Monday that recognized the most unusual pet health insurance claim in the United States. Ellie, who fully recovered from her encounter with the beehive in southern California, beat a border collie that ran through a window to get at a mailman, and a terrier that bit a chainsaw.
